Hello neighbours!
I’m writing as the Chairman of our Stibbard Parish Council with an important update; we’ve recently had a councillor step down due to ill health and now have several vacancies to fill. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who might be interested in joining us as a councillor.
We are a small, but dedicated group who genuinely care about keeping our beautiful village the special place it is. What do we actually do? The everyday things that matter – making sure our park lawns are kept tidy, bins are regularly emptied, and other maintenance jobs around the village.
Right now, we’re particularly excited about securing funding for new speed gates for the village – a project many of you have asked about to help keep our roads safer. Also, we have another project involving the war memorial.
Being on the council isn’t just about boring meetings as we only meet once every other month; it’s about having a real say in how we spend our budget, which local projects we support, and finding grants for improvements we couldn’t otherwise afford.
You don’t need any special qualifications – just care about Stibbard and have a few hours a month to spare. You’ll be working alongside neighbours who share your love for our community.
Interested? I’d be happy to chat about what’s involved. You’re also welcome to come along to our next meeting on May 13th at the village hall to see what we’re all about before making any decisions. Our meetings typically between 1 and 1.5 hours. Thanks for considering – our village is only as good as the people who get involved!
Kind regards,
Bill Aldridge
Chairman
